Spiritual and Prayer Focus of the Pilgrimage -- The Saint Francis Pilgrimage is a walk of prayer and remembrance of St. Francis’ radical Gospel commitment to peace and holy poverty, and to seeking with brothers and sisters for ways we can, with the humility of Francis, open our lives to the Spirit’s work of building a civilization of love. Registration - - Registration prior to the pilgrimage is appreciated as it will help planning for meals and snacks, prayer booklets, and other needs during the walk. To register: call Dave Cook at 608-five58-8one71, or Kathy Cook at 60eight-214-8one71, to leave your name and phone number, the names of others in your party, and to ask any questions. Unregistered stragglers will also be welcome to join the pilgrimage!
Meals and Drinks - - Water bottles will be available for every pilgrim at the start of the walk at St. Vics, at the mid-morning break, the lunch break, the mid-afternoon break, and at St. Francis. A light breakfast (hardboiled egg, doughnut, cheesestick, and apple or banana) will be provided after the Morning Prayer, as the pilgrimage begins. BYO Coffee! A light lunch (bread and cheese, chips, and apple or banana) will be provided at the mid-way point (the Monticello trailhead), available from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A light supper (bread and cheese, chips, and apple or banana) will be provided after the Vigil Mass at St. Francis, at 6:00-7:00 p.m., near the bonfire site, just prior to the Evening Prayer (Vespers).
Transportation-- For insurances reasons, the Diocese of Madison and Christ the King Parish cannot be responsible for shuttling pilgrims during the pilgrimage, and for returning pilgrims to St. Victor, if needed, after the pilgrimage. You will have to make your own ride and shuttle arrangements if you anticipate these needs.
Liturgy of the Hours and Transitus Liturgy booklets-- A booklet containing the Liturgy of the Hours for Morning Prayer (Lauds), Mid-Morning Prayer (Third Hours, Terce), Noon Prayer (Sixth Hour, Sext) , Mid-Afternoon Prayer (Ninth Hour, None), and Evening Prayer (Vespers), and also incorporating the prayer focus of the pilgrimage to align our hearts with St. Francis and with Pope Leo’s recent encouragement for Christians to become artisans of peace, rejecting a culture of power, war, and injustice, and building a civilization of love. A separate booklet for the Night Prayer (Compline) and Transitus Liturgy will be available for those staying on for the bonfire, silent vigil, and Night Prayer.
Itinerary and Map of the Pilgrimage-- An itinerary for the pilgrimage and a map of the route, showing locations for the mid-morning, noon, and mid-day breaks, is included at the end page of the Liturgy of the Hours booklet and can be shared after registration.
